The Naina Devi Temple is situated on northern end of the Nainital Lake near the Nainital Boat House Club in Nainital. The presiding deity of the temple is Goddess Naina Devi represented by two eyes. According to the legend, Naina Devi Temple is the place where eyes from burned body of Goddess Sati fall when her corpse was being carried by Lord Shiva. The word Naina is synonymous with Sati's eyes. The temple is one the main places to visit in Nainital. The main shrine of Naina Devi is bordered by two lion statues. During Nanda Ashtami, a big fair is organized in the Naina Devi temple and devotees come for darshan and take blessings. This Nanda Ashtami festival runs for 8 days in the premises of Naina Devi temple. A ceremony of statue immersion of Goddess Nanda Devi with her sister Naini Devi is celebrated on last day of the fair.

The house was trade to Mr. Sharda Prasad Varma in 1947 when the Corbett family left for Kenya and is recently owned by his granddaughter who permits a personal tour of the house on request.

Pangot And Kilbury Bird Sanctuary

One of the best things to see in Nainital is to visit this temple to witness some of the rare variety of birds and animals. Mall Road

Your trip to Nainital will be incomplete without visiting Mall Road. Built during Colonial rule, it runs through the town’s heart, parallel to the lake. The market has served this region for decades and offers many more souvenirs and local specialties too.

Tibetan Market

You will find an exciting flea market run by natives Tibet, who come here with many exquisitely made bags, scarves, shawls, ethnic dresses, mufflers, trinkets and even watches. The prices are definitely affordable making this market next to the Naini Lake a bustling scene of activity and colourful ambience.The atmosphere is vibrant and the vendors ensure your interest is held by calling out to you. Be sure to bargain well and check around for the prices before closing any deal.

People likes to buy woollen clothes including shawls, mufflers, and the scarves from the market that’s called Bhutia market that falls behind Naina Devi Temple. As compared to Darjeeling Market I found these things a bit excessive. Never mind, there is a large variety and design of woollen stuffs to buy here. Fruit Products

The fruit products are also a very popular item of Nainital. There is a shop on Bhimtal-Bhowali road called fruitage which sells these all items. They include jams, juices, chutney, squashes, and pickles. The other popular items of this market are Apple chutney (from Mukteshwar and Ranikhet orchards) and Buransh (flower) Squash which has medicinal benefits. Among dry fruits, you can buy walnuts, kafal, plum, strawberry and apricot which are local fruits.

Bells of Ghorakhal’s Golu Temple

The Brass Bells are allowing as a prayer to Lord Golu at Ghorakhal Temple of Nanital.  Golu Devta i.e Lord Golu is a fabulous allegorical and historical God of the Kumaun region of Uttarakhand state of India. The temple is suited on a small hilltop. Interestingly, you can see there are thousands of bells of all sizes that are hanging all over the temple. Bal Mithai

Bal Mithai is the most famous sweet of Nainital from the Himalayan state of Uttarakhand in India, especially regions around Almora.  The specialty sweet of Uttarakhand is made from dried melt milk solids (khoya). The chocolate brown colour sweet is adorned cover with white sugar balls. Chocolate is another version of Bal Mithai sweets, but without the sugar balls. Khim Singh Mohan Singh Rautela shop is famous in the uttarakhand in Almora for their distinct Bal mithai and Singhauri.
